Pervolia, Misiria and Platanias (or Platanias) are three continuous suburbs of Rethymnon, which are 3-5 km east of the city respectively.

Formerly they were separate settlements, which with the development of housing were incorporated in the urban fabric of Rethymnon.

In Pervolia flows the river Platanias that carries the waters that overflow the dam of the River Amari after passing through the Prasan Gorge.

In front of the settlements unfolds a long sandy beach, which is an extension of the long beach of the city that starts west of the port and extends east to Skaleta.

It is very well organized, with plenty of food, drink and accommodation options. Like all parts of the coastal front, this is where the protected sea turtles Caretta caretta come from.

After all, the Rethymnon Bay is one of the 3 most important for the species, as it usually yields more than 400 nests a year.
