Then, Zeus was moved from Dikteon Antron, where he was born, to Ideon Andron.
During the moving, in accordance with Diodoros, his navel fell near a river, which is the today’s Karteros River, east of Heraklion.
According to another weaker version of the myth, Zeus did not only grow, but was also born in Ideon Andron.
Its entrance guarded by Curetes, mythical figures, that each time the little Zeus was crying, hitted their swords on the shields that kept the crying not heard from Saturn. In another version, the Curetes danced a very intense and fast dance, which made their heavy armor strike loudly and cover the weeping of baby Jupiter.
This dance, they say, is the ancestor of today's Pentozalis, a traditional cretan dance.
Many local musicians have composed and sang songs about the area,
amongst them and Psarantonis,
One of the most Famous Cretan Musicians who sang the song :
“Dias ((Zeus))”
“ Zeus was a shepherd at the mountain of Anogia , and his home was distant at Perachori (far side of the village) "
